The 7th Commencement Exercise

Drum-rolls please.....
The long awaited, and probably one of the top 10 days for all the seniors of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing has arrived. It's not that easy to pass all the requirements suited for this course, since this course deals with LIFE. For the Batch 2013 B.S.N. this will mark the stepping stone to claiming their chosen profession. This will mark their entrance towards the application for their board exam that will help them claim their "future" valuable possession.... their licenses.

The Special Event was celebrated at the Tanghalang Pasigueno located at Pasig City. The teatro was embellished with beautiful and elegant flowers, and the stage was set to the traditional design that was used for the past graduation ceremony. Finally we had a chance to walk through this stage handed with their diplomas, it will mark our celebratory rites as declared alumni's of the college institution.
The Graduates, as they pose with huge eyed and eager faces

I really tried my best shooting afar...

#SPORTSFEST 2013

These words were definitely used last February 27, 28, and March 1, 2013 LITERALLY, as the student council conducted their annual SPORTSFEST. The event was held at the National Center for Mental Health, Sports Rehabilitation Center.  The different teams soared to achieve great heights in order to be proclaimed as CHAMPIONS

The different colleges had their own favored teams as per year level, and not only that the event was also attended by our alumni’s and the faculty division including our very handsome college administrator Mr. Mark Vincent Vergel De Dios who had their own team and played the series of games. Mr. de Dios played hoops with the mixed team of LAB U composed of mostly 3rd year BSN students and some alumni’s. The crowd grew wild with ear piercing screams when this man played the game. The event was attended by our beloved faculty members, including the respected dean’s from the various colleges. Well to tell you the truth I made a video to show the happenings in the said event. Because, I promise you it may take the receding years to come if I tell you all about it in black and white format. So, well enjoy watching! And wait for the next postings regarding the winners for the mythical 5 of the volleyball and basketball games along with the MVP awards for each categories and the team to be proclaimed as the champions for this year's sports festivities.

A Night to Remember... strange days...

Last December 22, 2012 the Student Council of Our Lady of Guadalupe Colleges conducted one of the most awaited events in the school calendar, the annual acquaintance party at famous Fiamma Bar at Jupiter Street, Makati City with the Theme: “Dress to Impress, Fashionistas” The registration started at 6:00 pm, while the program started at 7:00pm. Mr John Keith Sinel and Ms. Nicolline Roxas served as the host and hostess of the night. There were also some beloved professors who came and joined the student festivities, namely, Ms. Corazon Hebron our beloved Clinical Instructor and our admired Level IV coordinator Ms. Rosenda Jaramillo. Our ever handsome, “crush ng bayan” College Administrator Mr. Vincent Mark Vergel de Dios came with his own entourage. Judging with the guest and the students who joined the event it will surely fill the student body with fascination. The students came wearing their exquisite cocktail dresses, skirts, and blouses for the females and black ensemble, elegant polo’s with chic leather shoes and stylish sneakers for the males.

There were games that the student council prepared. The event started with the first game, the ever popular, “bring me” well there were definitely some interesting objects that were asked to be bought to the stage. After that they decided to move on with the game aptly named “Booty Shake” this was borrowed from a version of one of the game round in the game show, “Minute to Win It!” Players were picked in a fishbowl manner, they were asked to wear a box of tissue filled with pingpong balls the goal of the game is to remove all of the balls in the box using one simple procedure…their manner of booty shaking, there is just one catch there is a time limit 1minute. It was definitely an attention catcher for the audience. The third game was the “Flip Top” it is a beer game, the game needs a group effort. the game called for five groups of six players each they will surround a rectangular table they will be handed their own cups of beer, the first player would have to drink his or her glass first then flip the empty cup on the table but he or she should be able to flip it in an upside manner using just the index finger of his or her hands. After doing that the second player will repeat the process again up to the last player, the first team to win will then be declared as the winner of the game. The fourth game was the game popularized by the officers of the student council during the school’s 9th foundation day, “Eat My Banana” It called for 5players for the girls and 5 volunteers from the gorgeous male student body. The boys would have to sit 2meterstick away from the girls; they would have to sit on the floor holding an unpeeled banana between their legs. The girls will then be given a go signal to run for the respective male to their front they would have to peel the banana first using just their teeth, after the removal of the peel they would then have to eat the banana as fast as possible the first to divulge and swallow the banana wins. There were interesting whistles from the crowd who watched. The fifth game was the Bottoms Up this will include one of the favorite elements of the game-sphere…. Beer gulping. The player called for a specific gender… tadada… BOYS well judging from their reactions they were particularly all smiles as some of them were picked to play. They would have to do a dance number with their bottle of cold beer then gulp it as fast as possible the first to finish wins. Finally the game that made everyone join in just because the price in this one was a brand new tablet, “Don’t Blow the Joker” this game will include a beer bottle (don’t worry it won’t be consumed) that will serve as the holder of a deck of cards placed in a horizontal manner. The stack will house the cards with the joker placed last beneath all cards, players would then blow cards atop but they should not blow the joker it should stay in the bottom, sounds easy…. But hell! I doubt you could do it in one try.

Well after all talks about the games wondering what and where all the prizes are. TaDah! The very generous Student Council gave 20 coin banks, I Bench lotion, 1 Bench Cologne, 1Bench hand Sanitizer, 2 Mouse pads, 2 units of brand new Cherry Mobile phones, and the brand new Android tablet with dual camera. Of course the party will be a dull one without the performances by the Tropa Baile, 3 performances was housed on that night a first number by the girls a hot and sexy number definitely, second a performance by the boys which was definitely hotter, and the third a performance with all the members of this club which was very interesting and wonderful. The Student Council would definitely not turn the student body down, we can now say that they are not just intelligent but kick ass gorgeous, handsome and talented as well judging from the intermission number they performed. Well, we have to be proud of that. Finally the program ended around 12:00 midnight but this was just a closing message for the program the night is not yet over, the students danced themselves out with psychotically banging bar music. And yes if you ask me I will answer: THEY DEFINITELY HAD AN AMAZING NIGHT, A NIGHT TO REMEMBER!

Golden Z Club - Our Lady of Guadalupe Colleges Chapter

Hey Ladies! Do you have what it takes to be a Zontian?
Huh??! (With a frowned &wondering) Admit it! Never heard of it right? It’s not an animal; it’s not a thing or a prestige pageant show, not a Gabriella Silang group, a cult? Nah… and definitely not gay lingo. However, for us fourth year students we are familiar with the Zonta Pavilion in National Center for Mental Health but still, this isn’t it.
Last November 6, 2012 a new set of officers for the Golden Z Club with it’s new members were inducted. Seriously? Yes we did. The event  was attended by respected Zonta officers from San Juan- Mandaluyong Chapter to name them in no particular order, Ms. Carmelita S. Flores (chairperson of Z-Club and Golden Z Club of San Juan Mandaluyong Chapter), Ms. Annie Ambrosio (former President, Zonta Club of San Juan –Mandaluyong Chapter 2010-1012, former chairperson, Z Club and Golden Z Clubs), Ms. Dolly De Quiros Castillo (2012-2014 President, Zonta Club of San Juan-Mandaluyong), and Ms. Ofelia Bautista (Director, Area 1, Z-Club and Golden Z Clubs) also with our ever dynamic Dean Myraflor Lava as well with the OLGC Golden Z Club adviser Ms. Corazon Hebron and BSN Level IV coordinator Ms. Rosenda Jaramillo.
But really, what is Zonta ? Zonta is prestigious women’s organization and internationally acclaimed association. In case you did not know, our very own President Ma Victoria Vergel De Dios was elected to be a member of the Zonta International Nominating Committee. Through her, she entrusted and encouraged nursing students, that’s us! So, do you have anything to say? Nothing Right? Just thank you and wow! It is a priviledge and we should thank her for that.

Did you know that it was in the year 1919 when this organization was founded? Zonta International is a global organization was then joined by executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. There are more than 30,000 members belonging to more than 1200 Zonta Clubs in 63 countries and geographical areas. Zontians all over the world volunteer all the time, talents and support to local and international service projects, as well as scholarship programs aimed at fulfilling Zonta’s mission and objectives. Imagine that? This is what we should be thanking for, because we are joining the whole world in fulfilling this goal. I know what’s on your mind, - how can we save the world? We are not saving the world yet but we should start saving, from our own home, our beloved school, Our Lady of Guadalupe Colleges. In our own little way we can help our classmates, schoolmates, and the college as a whole. I believe that with our joined efforts and unique talents we would be able to create activities that will benefit our school and for the communities we wish to serve. It is proven and tested that nowadays, young people are more innovative and gumptious. Is that true? Well, we will see then. All we have to do is stick around and take initiatives. Enjoy and educate ourselves because everything has a purpose and you will not regret it. I know it may take our time, hard work and perseverance but it’s heartwarming when we see how people benefit from even our little efforts.
Aside from the activities happening in our school; We also concern ourselves with social issues such as campaigns against violence for the women and children, and other significant celebrations. As a student, we also have the privilege to join workshops that highlight leadership skills, and attend career guideline session. We will become equipped with knowledge and skills that could help us cultivate the Zontian attitude.
Well then, I hope I have inspired you to be more passionate about serving others but, if you find it interesting please do contact or see the officers. As you can notice, our school is not that big from time to time we can bump into each other along the hallway. This is not compulsory but Ma’am Virma is looking forward to see her students become good leaders someday and are deserved to be called Zonta Ladies. So, take the challenge and share your talents it can change lives, I promise!

In advance, I would like to thank the OLGC Golden Z Club members and hope we will constantly support each other to make every activity successful. For the faculty members, our adviser Ms. Corazon Hebron, and our coordinator, Ms. Rosenda Jaramillo for their overflowing understanding. To Ms. Carmelita Flores, who has been so passionate in inspiring and had served as a model for all of us future leaders. Last but not the least, to our ever understanding and loving Dean Myraflor Lava for always guiding us all throughout this wonderful journey.

We would also like to thank Ms. Bitoon and her staff/team from the Victor R.
